The TEF Dave Ellingson Scholarship for Environmental Studies & Social Justice

Named for Dave Ellingson, a beloved Professor who taught at Trinity Lutheran College.  Dave not only taught about environmental stewardship and about many issues related to social justice, he continues to do so today by traveling, speaking, and writing books about these topics.

Overview

  • Scholarships awarded will be $1,000.
  • The number of scholarships offered can vary from year to year.
  • The scholarship will be for one academic year.
  • Scholarship funds are applied to cover tuition, room & board, and fees and are paid from Foundation to the institution.
  • Recipients will receive a two-week summer internship at Holden Village in the beautiful Cascade mountains in Washington state to be a part of a community focused on living a lifestyle around creation care and social justice.  Students shall only receive one Trinity Education Foundation Scholarship per academic year.

Eligibility

  • This scholarship is for graduating high school students who have a passion for and will be studying in majors related to environmental studies and/or social justice issues.
  • Will be attending an accredited Christian college or university in any of the northwest states (WA, OR, ID, MT).
  • Have a minimum high school 3.0 GPA.
  • Submit a 350 word essay, telling us about your passion for environmental stewardship and/or social justices issues, your involvement, your plans for studying in college and how you envision your studies directing your future after college.
  • Upload, your official high school transcripts with your application.
  • Upload, your Letter of Acceptance to the college or university you will be attending by April 15.
